A Case of Choanal Polyp Originated from Sphenoid Sinus

Abstract
Choanal polyps are a separate clinical entity, While the etiology of choanal polyps is unclear, they present a fairly uniform clinical picture. Maxillary sinus is the usual site of origin, but in rare cases, a choanal polyp may originate from a
different site, e. g., turbinate sinus, anteroinferior surface of the ethmoidal bulla, sphenoethmoidal recess, or sphenoid sinus.
A 37 year-old woman was referred with 6 months history of nasal obstruction. Anterior rhinoscopic examination revealed the large polyp on the posterior portion of nasal cavity extending to the choana. Endoscopic and radiologic evaluation was
taken,
and
FESS was performed. Polyp was removed completely.
We report this case with review of the literature.
